The Column: Photos of Our Students

Giulia Pissagroia from the storytelling course with Lorenzo Catena.

The journey of someone new to photography can be broadly divided into two paths: the easy route of following the crowd—adopting the templates promoted on social media and relying on ready-made examples—or the path of experimentation in search of one’s own visual language.

In her work*Asfissia*, Giulia Pissagroia draws inspiration from everyday life without mental constructs, venturing into the imaginative realms of the dreamlike and the surreal—territories already explored by great masters such as Trent Parke and Daido Moriyama.

This project presents us with a series of images that defy easy categorization; these are “spontaneous” shots that capture the tranquil rhythm of the off-season sea, far removed from the dynamics of “likes.”*Asfissia*is a work that offers a glimpse into the mind and its kaleidoscope of emotions.
