Mariano Doronzo isan Italian documentary photographer. In 2013, after completing his studies, he moved to England to focus on his artistic career. There, he began working with photography, documenting his personal journey through English culture and landscape through the lens of an old analog camera. This body of work, titled *Through The Looking Glass*,was exhibited in 2017
at The Photo Parlourin Nottingham (UK).
In 2019, in collaboration withthe FORMAT International Photography Festivalin Derby (UK), Doronzo was selected for a two-month residency at The Institute of Reminiscence.
Here,he presents *Slides on a Light Box*, an installation featuring a reimagined visual map of the city of Derby: drawing on the memories and stories of the local community, the work explores how many of the places recalled by residents have been abandoned or replaced by new developments.
In 2022, Doronzo was selected for a long-term mentorship at Magnum Photos under the guidance of Matt Black and Susan Meiselas. The result of this experienceis *I Don’t Know What I Want*, a multimedia project (photographs, diary entries, video stills) that explores the concept of masculinity.
In 2023, Doronzo teaches Creative Photography in the Media Production departmentat De Montfort University in Leicester(UK).
In 2024, Doronzo was among the winners of TPS#6, a workshop led by Lina Pallotta and curated by Marco Delogu.
Lanterna Beach(2015–present) is the latest project by Doronzo, exploring the relationship between a community of Italian beachgoers and the setting of a harbor pier where they gather and sunbathe year-round. In December 2024, Lanterna Beach was adapted into a podcast for release on the Loquis platform.
