Anyone who knows us or has participated in any of our extracurricular activities knows this: promoting visual culture is one of the core missions of our photography school in Rome.
For the second time, we’ve been fortunate enough to bring a great independent documentary to the big screen with the filmmakers in attendance. Following last year’s success—which featured photographer Mike Brodie and director Cyrill Lachauer for the screening of their film *Slack* —our valuable “all-Pigneto” collaboration with the Nuovo Cinema Aquila continues. On this occasion, last Thursday, May 21, we had the honor of celebrating one of the most legendary talents on the Italian scene: Marco Pesaresi.
The documentary: an intimate portrait of Marco Pesaresi
Thanks to the presence in the theater of the filmmakers Michela Fragomeni, Elena Padovan, Marta Erika Antonioli, and Riccardo Caccia, we screened their new project, *Il Granchio Nudo*, for an exclusive evening. The documentary brings to the big screen the turbulent and fascinating story of the photographer from Rimini, who died prematurely in 2001.
It was a precious opportunity to offer the public a moving work that delves deep into the soul of Marco Pesaresi and his creative journey. The film traces his most important projects, such as *Underground* and *Rimini*, painting an honest portrait of a fragile person who is, at the same time, one of the greatest talents in Italian and international photography.
Testimonials and Talks: Dialogue as the Foundation of Teaching
*Il Granchio Nudo* combines the personal accounts of friends and family with those of prominent figures in the world of photography who have worked alongside Pesaresi, including Denis Curti and Renata Ferri, in an emotional narrative told through images.
In addition to the creators, who shared the story behind the creation and development of this remarkable independent project, the evening concluded with a high-profile panel discussion. The following speakers took the stage:

Once again, we wanted to bring photography into the real world, stepping outside the classroom. We firmly believe that participation, active listening, and discussion are the true pillars of education and outreach for anyone who wants to study and experience photography in its entirety.
